Mission

Join the mission on the Guadalupe Ranch with a 5 generational family. Your mission will be centered around the Sacred Heart of Jesus in the Domestic Church. Come experience the glory of God through prayer, work, and families! Get a taste of the Cajun culture, rodeo sport and work with our local apostolic missionary leaders from Cursillo, ACTS, Teen ACTS, and the Domestic Church movement.

Housing

Housing in Lake Charles will be with a 5 generational family on the Guadalupe Ranch. Participants should plan on bringing, bedding for twin mattresses’, blankets, pillows. Men, women, girls, and boys will have separate sleeping areas. Check with your site coordinator for more housing details.

Meals

Meals will be provided starting Monday evening when you arrive, until you depart the following Saturday. The only meals that are not included are if you decide to plan our own free day. Breakfasts are generally hot and cooked by your host family and we pack a sack lunch. Dinners are always hot.

Work Projects

Work projects in Lake Charles are focused on 2020 Hurricane Delta & Laura disaster recovery and rebuilding projects for the elderly and low income families. Projects in the Lake Charles area include deconstruction and cleanup work or rebuilding work, such as framing, roofing, siding, sheetrock, flooring, insulation, painting, building wheelchair ramps, and landscape work.

Travel

You can drive in or fly in. Transportations is not included in cost. You will need to by your tickets and rent enough rental cars for your group for the week.

Here are a few airport that are the closes to our home base.

  • Lake Charles Regional Airport (LCH)- about a 30 Minute drive from home base.
  • George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH)- about a 2 1/2 hour drive from home base.
  • Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY)- about a 4 hour drive from home base.

Free Day

Friday can be a half work day or recreation day. Groups who travel a long distance sometimes take their free day as they travel home. Let your site coordinator know what you prefer. The local community plans for a free day for our groups at the family fort and zipline into the lake. Some groups plan to go to the ropes course or local water park.

Weather

Pray for good weather. If we get rain, it’s possible that the outdoor projects will be cancelled for the day. Catholic Mission Trips, Inc., will try to arrange both outdoor and indoor projects for each group.
