Hi there! My name is Sophia Guerra Raigoza. I am 22 years old and unapologetically Catholic. I was born and raised in Southern California. I came back to the Catholic faith 3 years ago. I had an encounter with Christ himself and ever since, my life has completely changed. I have the desire and need to share God’s love with all of my brothers and sisters. I’m actively serving my church and co-leading a woman’s bible study group with my best friends. I love diving deep into my faith through apologetics because it helps me better understand the beauty and truth of our beliefs.
As of July 20, 2024, I got married in the Catholic Church to my lovely husband. He is truly God sent, he is the man that guided me back to the Church. We’re temporarily separated until the end of the year due to military orders. I recently became a licensed esthetician but I’ve had doubt about this career field. I feel God is calling me to serve His people this year but I didn’t know how or in what way… until I attended a Catholic conference, called Seek. I came across a booth called, Catholic Mission Trips, Inc. After I went back home I felt God place this mission trip heavily on my heart. I had other plans in mind like finally starting my career as an esthetician, but God had different plans for me. I tried avoiding this feeling but it only caused me anxiety. I finally took the leap of faith and applied.
Now I will be joining Catholic Mission Trips, Inc. this summer as a Mission Leader. We will be serving the poor, rebuilding communities that are in need, and ministering to the youth. I’m taking this time away from my husband to fully dedicate myself to serving God and His people. I’m eager and ready to spread the Good News of God, His unconditional love for us.
Favorite Scripture: Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access [by faith] to this grace in which we stand, and we boast in hope of the glory of God. Not only that, but we even boast of our afflictions, knowing that affliction produces endurance, and endurance, proven character, and proven character, hope, and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out into our hearts through the holy Spirit that has been given to us. – Roman 5:1-5
Favorite Quote: “I am not afraid, for God is with me. I was born for this!” – St. Joan of Arc

“Some people give to the missions by going, others go to the missions by giving. Without both, there are no missions.”
