Hi, there!
My name is Tilly Cowan and I’m an undeclared rising Sophomore at the University of Dallas in Irving, TX. I’m strongly considering majoring in theology. Growing up Catholic, I have always had a mind for the faith, but to me, it was abstracted from reality. I didn’t really grasp the immediacy and urgency of belief until around the 7th grade. We have a quote from St. Augustine on a plaque at our campus, and I love it: “To fall in love with God is the greatest romance; to seek him the greatest adventure; to find him, the greatest human achievement.” My adventure, my delve into the mystery of true Love had just begun. At first, as an interiorly-converted Christian, God and my interactions with Him terrified me. Slowly but surely, God has been guiding me away from a relationship with Him built on fear and towards one founded in love. I have always dreamed of being able to represent God to the vulnerable. I want to be a gentle hand to help in whatever way God wants me to. Having experienced the difficulty of misunderstanding God and His precepts, I am so excited for an opportunity to help guide youth towards a proper understanding of the God that loves them.
God bless.

Favorite Scripture: “I believe that I shall see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!” – Psalm 27:13-14

Favorite Saint: St. Jane de Chantal and St. Therese

Favorite Quote: “It is true, my child, that in this life we must always be beginning anew, but if it were not so where should we be? For this is essential to our humility and to confidence, the two virtues our good God asks of us. Be brave, train yourself to courage and to exactitude in the observance. Keep a light heart, and above all things put sadness far from you. God is wholly ours, and we, my daughter, have no other wish than to be wholly His.” –Saint Jane de Chantal
